Kehinde rates Eagles high, commends Gernot Rohr

Former Brazil star forward Ronaldinho released from jail, placed under house arrest

first_imgAsuncion: Former Brazil star forward Ronaldinho has been released from jail and placed under house arrest in Paraguay.According to a BBC report, both Ronaldinho, 40, and his brother Roberto Assis have denied any wrongdoing.Their lawyer called the imprisonment “arbitrary, abusive and illegal.”In allowing the pair to leave prison, Judge Gustavo Amarilla said the size of the bail paid was “significant” and would “guarantee they will not flee”,” the report further said.The Brazilian football great and his brother, Roberto Assis, have been held at a prison in Asuncion since March 6 for using fake passports.The pair was relocated to a hotel in the center of Asuncion after agreeing to pay $1.6 million in bail during a court hearing. Judges had rejected three previous bail requests by the brothers.The former FC Barcelona playmaker travelled with Assis to Paraguay on March 4 to participate in a children’s charity event and promote a new book. They were arrested later that day for entering the country with false travel documents.Ronaldinho retired from football in 2018 after a career that included spells at Gremio, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Milan and Atletico Mineiro, among other clubs. He was a part of the Brazil team that won the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea and was twice voted the FIFA world player of the year. Touch And Go For Lukaku As Belgium Stroll To Russia

first_imgBelgium and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is in a race against time to be fit for Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury in United’s 4-0 defeat of Crystal Palace at the weekend, manager Roberto Martinez has said today.Belgium have booked their place at the Russia 2018 World Cup and should be comfortable without Lukaku on Saturday but Martinez is hoping the former Everton man will be fit enough to feature when they host Cyprus at home on Tuesday night. Martinez told the media on Wednesday:“At the moment, Romelu is working separately.“He has not joined the group yet since he arrived. We need to be a little bit patient.“I would say he is very uncertain for Saturday.“We will make a decision probably on Friday, but I would say that it is a little bit difficult for him to be involved on Saturday.“But we are still hopeful he will be involved on Tuesday.” Lukaku comes into the international  window having scored his seventh goal of the premier league and Jose Mourinho would be watching closely how his talisman’s injury will be handled.Martinez is also without Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany who got injured in Belgium’s last match against Gilbrata at the end of August.
