Police start suo motu case against Dilip Ghosh over controversial remarks

first_imgKolkata: East Midnapore district police started a suo motu case against state BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday, after he made some controversial remarks during a political rally at Mecheda on Monday.Ghosh’s statement has triggered sharp criticism from various sections of the society and condemnation from different political parties, including the ruling party in the state. He had sparked controversy on Monday, when he urged his party supporters to beat up Trinamool Congress workers or policemen and leave the rest to him. The district police found his statement highly derogatory and therefore started a suo motu case against him. If you don’t beat them up, you are not a BJP man. I shall take care of the rest.” Ghosh had also told his party men that Trinamool Congress workers could be “squashed like flies and mosquitoes.” He had also argued: “If the former Union Finance minister P Chidambaram can go to jail, who are these people? He also warned that those who are harassing BJP supporters would face dire consequences and threatened that he would beat them up in such a manner that their bodies cannot be traced. Senior Trinamool Congress leader Jyotipriya Mallick said that Ghosh would get the reply in 2021. Mallick also said that he would not pay any heed to what Ghosh says, as he considers the latter an “insane person.” Meanwhile, Ghosh justified his controversial statements on Tuesday, saying that he felt that violence was required to end violence, as otherwise their existence would be in trouble.last_img read more
