Clive Allen insists Tottenham youngster Harry Kane is ready for a prolonged period in the first team. The 21-year-old emerged from the bench on Sunday afternoon to score the winner, and his seventh in seven games, in a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa.Kane is expected to start in the Europa League clash with Asteras Tripolis on Thursday night, having begun all of the north London club’s matches in Europe’s secondary competition this campaign. And former striker, turned coach, Allen believes the England Under-21 star should replace Emmanuel Adebayor in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.“I had a number of years working with him while he came through the youth system there and into the reserve group,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “He’s a fantastic lad and has a wonderful knack of scoring goals.“He gets in the right position and then, when he’s given the opportunity, he’s a good finisher and very clinical.“He’s not blessed with the best pace but he’s very clever in his movement in and around the penalty box. I’d love to see him have a run of six games in the Premier League.”You can listen to live commentary of Asteras Tripolis v Tottenham on talkSPORT from 6pm
