Tour guide runs out of luck

Photo credit: kirtok.comA local tour guide, who before last week had never been in trouble with the law, ran out of luck on Sunday when he was found with forty-one (41) grams of cannabis. Jackie Lewis, who was charged for possession of cannabis and possession of 41 grams of cannabis with intent to supply, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared before magistrate Candia Carette George on Tuesday.Police prosecutor Claude Weekes said a search warrant was executed by the police on the defendant’s person where a clear plastic bag was discovered with a content of what appeared to be cannabis on May 20th in Portsmouth.When he was asked by officers regarding the contents of the plastic bag he said; “that is weed”.He was asked what he meant when he say “that is weed” to which he replied “ganja, I just get that from a padner. Officer anything you get there is mine”.Magistrate Carette-George asked Lewis whether he knows that “marijuana is illegal”? He responded “yes, that’s why I didn’t give the police no trouble”.He was fined $1,000.00 to be paid by July 31st, 2012 on the possession of cannabis with intent to supply charge.
